Our Story

JG Contemporary is a London art agency and gallery. We deliver permanent public art for councils, developers and institutions, and we place original work by the same artists with collectors around the world. Both sides of what we do share one belief: art belongs where people live their lives, and it should be made with them, not just for them.

From a West London studio to the city’s streets

Our story began in 2010, when Jewel and James Goodby founded West London Art Factory in North Acton, a screen-printing workshop and studio space for artists, makers and musicians. Through pop-up exhibitions across London we built a reputation for championing emerging and established artists, and in 2017 Jewel launched JG Contemporary to represent them, showing work in London and New York.

In 2019 we co-founded Acton Unframed, a grassroots street art programme that raised £54,000 from the local community in just over two weeks, backed by Ealing Council, Acton BID and the Mayor of London. Its first mural, Shisoka by Fin DAC, made us fall in love with Churchfield Road, and in December 2019 we opened our gallery there. For five and a half years it was a home for exhibitions, artist talks and community evenings, until it closed in June 2025. Fin DAC’s murals are still on the street.

Public art

Today our agency work runs from community murals to complex permanent commissions. The Fabric of Southall, a vitreous enamel artwork for the Southall Station Overbridge commissioned by Ealing Council, is our most complex project to date. It is being installed over a working railway in liaison with Network Rail, with The Whitewall Co. as both fabricator and structural engineer. At Midland Terrace Playground we produced a mural for OPDC designed with local families. The Sidings, a 45-metre mural by Henry Woolway, stands on the back of Acton Central station. On every project we manage the whole process (artist selection, community engagement, design, approvals, fabrication and installation), so our clients deal with one team from first idea to finished work.

Exhibitions and collecting

We’ve taken our artists’ work to Pitzhanger Manor & Gallery, the National Football Museum and Guildhall Art Gallery, and to art fairs including Photo London and Moniker Art Fair in New York. Matt Small’s This Is England, his portraits of the England squad commissioned for the FA, was exhibited at Pitzhanger in 2021 and acquired by the Moniker Art Foundation in 2022, then went on to be shown at Guildhall Art Gallery and the National Football Museum. Through our online gallery we offer original works, unique and editioned photography and a selection of editions by the artists we represent, sent to collectors all over the world.

Who we are

JG Contemporary is led by Jewel Goodby, founder and director, a creative director and curator who has worked with urban and contemporary artists for over fifteen years, and James Goodby, who leads operations and delivery on site. We work with a close network of artists, including Matt Small, Monika Forsberg, Tasia Graham, Henry Woolway and Fin DAC, alongside specialist fabricators, engineers and community partners.

Based in Park Royal, West London.
